Material | Hollow maple tree trunk, fire, charcoal
Date | 2015
I came across this trunk from a maple tree that had been cut down due to rot from the inside. After contemplating what to do with the trunk and how to deal with the rotten wood I decided to burn out the decomposing material. The experience of creating this sculpture and the end result was fascinating to play with the elements of nature. Wood, Earth, Fire & Air all were essential elements that gave birth to this sculpture.
