NY LightboxMaterials | Plywood, acrylic, gel transfer images, paint
This lightbox was created as part of a project in New York and contains layers of images that represent different moments in time. The acrylic slides have gel transfer images of Basquiat's art, a map of the bodies of water surrounding NY, a Lenape mask, historical photo of the Brooklyn Bridge for example. The images are stacked like layers of floors in the sky scrapers that are built upon other layers of human history and the geological layers that support it all. These layers in time can be reorganized from top to bottom allowing the top layer to be illuminated more if the other layers are pulled out and less if they are within the confines of the lightbox. |
