Many of the plants we find in our landscapes can be used for dyes.  Designing a landscape around a home or at a school can integrate plants that provide many uses throughout the year.  A dye garden can be a source of color in its many forms such as flowers, leaves, bark, and roots.

FIBERS & WOOD

Plants can be used to create a productive landscape for fibers, stalks, pulp, and wood.  These materials can be used for the creation of various art, crafts, and built environments.  Gardens can be designed for basket weavers, fiber artists, and to create living works of art.

FOOD & MEDICINE

Urban vegetable gardens on private land as well in community plots can help to reduce the impact on importing foods from distant landscapes. Community orchards also provide a food source that all can enjoy.

HABITAT

Designing landscapes for pollinators and other species beyond humans is more important then ever. Native and non native pollinator friendly plants can be reintroduced into our urban and natural landscapes to provide food and habitat.

REGENERATION & REMEDIATION

Restoring a landscape from the past abuse or neglect of humanity can create a healthy ecosystem once again. Plants, mushrooms, bacteria, and microbes can help to remediate a landscape and assist in the regeneration of a balanced ecosystem.
