MATERIAL : PROPOSAL Warehouse 508 is a place for youth to create art and music while providing a variety of educational activities and programming. The space also function as an indoor skate park and gallery where community gatherings occur. Grafitti artists work with Warehouse 508 to bring color to a wall on the outside of the building. The asphalt parking lot adjacent to Warehouse 508 has been redesigned to create a place for humans to gather and celebrate the role of art and culture within downtown Albuquerque. The design of the commons area was to create an outdoor skate park that also functions as an amphitheater, and a place for stormwater to collect during the monsoon season. I designed large three dimensional grafitti sculptures that function as a surface for artist to paint on, for skateboarders to skate on, and for visitors to sit on. The impervious surfaces are perforated with vegetated areas that are planted with native drought tollerant plants. |
